Unfortunately\/thankfully, the online social media world is no longer just about Facebook. Besides Whatsapp<\/a><\/strong><\/em>Twitter, you also want to be notified about Instagram(*) notifications. So it's only logical to have this done via an Instagram(*) lamp.<\/p>\n

How to do this and what you need to bear in mind is described in the following article.<\/p>\n

Prepare the small LED strip<\/h2>\n

Der kleinere der beiden LED-Streifen mit neun LED’s ist daf\u00fcr zust\u00e4ndig die „Kameralinse“ des Instagram(*)-Icons von innen zu beleuchten. Dazu muss zun\u00e4chst die Anschlussleitung vorbereitet werden.<\/p>\n

To be able to solder the cable to the first LED strip later, it must first be prepared. If you have not already done so, cut off a 9 LED strip. Then you have to find the end of the LED strip where a small black arrow points away from the end. This arrow marks the control signal input for the LEDs.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Gluing LED strips into the housing<\/h2>\n

Der vorbereitete LED-Streifen kann nun in die „Kameralinse“ Eurer Instagram(*)-Lampe eingeklebt werden.<\/p>\n

Once you have checked everything, you can now fix the LED strip in place with a little hot glue. First fix the ends of the LED strip - as shown - with a little hot glue.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Attach the second LED strip<\/h2>\n

In order to be able to glue the second LED strip into the frame, it must first be prepared in the same way as the first LED strip.<\/p>\n

Take the remaining approx. 6cm long piece of your 3-wire cable...<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

...and insulate the ends approx. 5mm wide.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Now tin these stripped ends with a little solder.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

As with the first LED strip, now place the second LED strip (with 26 LEDs) in front of you so that the black arrow is pointing away from you again.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Connect the ESP8266 adapter board to the LED strips<\/h2>\n

The LED strips are now prepared. To ensure that they light up and can be controlled in general, you still need an ESP8266 adapter board to control the LED strips. In this case, a \"WEMOS D1 Mini\" is used.<\/p>\n

It is also recommended to deactivate the LED of the ESP8266 adapter board at this point. This is described in the article ESP8266 - Remove\/deactivate LED<\/strong><\/em><\/a> described.<\/p>\n

To ensure that the adapter board disappears out of sight in the base of the lamp, it still needs to be placed in the base.<\/p>\n

Take particular care to ensure that no short circuits (= connections) occur at the contacts of the soldered cable.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

If you have worked through all the steps up to this point, your Instagram(*) lamp should now look something like this.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Glue on paper covers<\/h2>\n

Eure Instagram(*)-Lampe ist nun fast fertig. Das einzige was noch ein bisschen die Optik st\u00f6rt ist, dass man die „nackten“ LED-Streifen direkt sehen kann.<\/p>\n

To hide these a little, three strips of paper are now made. Two of them with the dimensions 30x210mm and one of them with the dimensions 30x135mm. These are then glued into the frame. These paper strips are actually universal labels, i.e. one side is coated with glue so that you can easily stick the paper strips into the lamp.<\/p>\n

The easiest way to cut the paper strips is with a cutting plotter. If you don't have access to one at the moment, you can also use scissors or a sharp knife and ruler. Make sure that you do not damage the surface you are working on with the knife.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Flash Tasmota firmware<\/h2>\n

Now it is time to transfer the Tasmota firmware to the lamp. Program the Tasmota firmware on the ESP9266 adapter board. How to do this is described in the article Tasmota - Flash firmware\u00a0 <\/strong><\/em><\/a>explained.<\/p>\n

The following is a configuration as I used it for my Instagram(*) lamp. Of course, you still need to configure the access data for your WLAN and, if necessary, the access data for your MQTT server.<\/p>\n

To ensure that the freshly programmed but still unconfigured firmware of the lamp works correctly, you now need to set where the LED strip is connected to the ESP8266 adapter board.<\/p>\n
