But unfortunately even the best hardware is nothing without the right software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So that you can easily control the analog displays and the associated LEDs, you can use the following ESP Easy plugin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This allows you to control up to 16 analog displays including LEDs and display values adapted to the scales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the actual plugin files, it also contains the other files of the ESPEasy framework. This means that everything can be downloaded and programmed directly onto the controller. The plugins are already configured correctly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enable plugin compilation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you program ESPEasy on your ESP using the ArduinoIDE or recompile the code completely, it is important that you also activate the PanelMeter plugin beforehand. To do this, switch to the plugin tab and remove the comment (the two \"\/\/\") before the \"#define USES_P209\". This will include the plugin and the code it contains in the next compilation and make it available to you as a selection in the plugin manager. Configure plugin<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In order to configure the PanelMeter plugin accordingly, you have to go to the web configuration menu of the ESPEasy firmware installed on the PanelMeter. Simply enter the IP address of the PanelMeter connected to your WLAN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to connect your PanelMeter programmed with the ESPEasy firmware to your WLAN can be found in the article ESPEasy \u2013 flash firmware and configure WLAN access data <\/a><\/strong><\/em>described. Once you have logged into the configuration menu of your PanelMeter, switch to the \"Devices\" tab and click on one of the 12 free \"Edit\" buttons.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Open the drop-down menu and select the \"Display - Nerdiys-PanelMeter\" device. If you cannot find this entry here, check again whether you activated the plugin before programming and thus compiled it. In the menu that now opens you can set all the important settings for your PanelMeter.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

You should assign a unique name for this device in the \"Name\" field. You can then use the \"1st GPIO\" field to specify the GPIO to which you have connected the WS2812B LEDs. Under \"Number of connected PanelMeter\" you can specify how many analog displays are present in your PanelMeter. Finally, you can specify the I2C address of your PanelMeter under \"PCA9685 I2C Address\". Once you have configured everything, click on \"Sumbit\" to apply the settings.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The LEDs of the PanelMeter backlight should then all light up white. If they don't, check again whether you have specified the correct GPIO and the correct number of analogue displays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The analog displays should all be exactly in the middle after the takeover. If they don't do this, check again whether you have specified the correct I2C address and number of PanelMeters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Available Commands<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The \"PanelMeter\" plug-in offers you two commands with which you can configure the displays. You can execute these in the usual way for ESP-Easy. How to do this is described in detail in the article ESPEasy \u2013 Execute commands and actions<\/strong><\/em><\/a> described.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first command is used to set the analog displays and optionally also configure the respective LED color. The second allows you to configure the LED color independently of the setting of the analog displays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \"pmset\" command requires seven parameters, the last three of which are optional.
1st parameter: \"selected PanelMeter\":
You use this parameter to choose which analog display you want to set. The counting starts at one. If you enter a zero, all analogue displays will be set with the selected settings. Value range: 0 to 16.
2nd parameter: \"lower limit\":
For this parameter you have to specify the lower limit of the scale on the analog display. This value is required to scale the value to be displayed accordingly. Value range: -10000 to 10000.
3rd parameter: \"upper limit\":
For this parameter you have to specify the upper limit of the scale on the analog display. This value is required to scale the value to be displayed accordingly. Value range: -10000 to 10000.
4th parameter: \"current value\":
This is the value to be displayed. It is scaled according to the specification of the \"lower limit\" and \"upper limit\". Value range: -10000 to 10000.
5th parameter: \"LED color red\":
Red color value of the LED to be set. Value range: 0 to 255.
6th parameter: \"LED color green\":
Green color value of the LED to be set. Value range: 0 to 255.
7th parameter: \"LED color blue\":
Blue color value of the LED to be set. Value range: 0 to 255.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 For example, you want to set an analog (temperature) display to 20\u00b0C, the value range of which is from -10\u00b0C to +40\u00b0C: pmset,1,-10,40,20<\/strong>
\u2013 the LED of the same display should also be set to blue: pmset,1,-10,40,20,0,0,255<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, you still need a \"backend\" to feed your PanelMeter with data. Various SmartHome systems are very suitable for this. This can be implemented very easily with NodeRed, for example.
