🇬🇧 Cross-section of the spear valve for the #printon_turbine . I think you can see pretty well how it should work. By turning the gear wheels, the M8x160 hexagon screw is turned forwards or backwards. This reduces or increases the cross-section through which the water can flow and thus also the amount of water that drives the turbine. I want to use 3.5mm thick sealing rings as a sealing between the individual housing parts. I'm curious to see if the individual parts can really be screwed together watertight. 🙂⁣

🇩🇪 Querrschnitt des Speerventils. Ich glaube hier kann man ganz gut erkennen wie das ganze funktioniert. Durch drehen der Zahnräder wird die M8x160 Sechskantschraube nach vorne bzw. zurück gedreht. Dadurch verringert bzw. vergrößert sich der Querschnitt durch den das Wasser fließen kann und damit auch die Wassermenge welche die Turbine antreibt. Als Dichtrine zwischen den einzelnen Gehäuseteilen will ich 3.5mm dicke Dichtungsringe verwenden. Ich bin gespannt ob sich die Einzelteile damit wirklich dicht verschrauben lassen. 🙂⁣

🇬🇧 Now I've finally managed to give all the pictures a bit more description. Will post more about it in the next days. Here is a close-up of the spear valve. For it I use the same DC motor with worm gear as I use for the pitch actuator from #WinDIY_2. Thanks to the self-locking, a valve position that has been set remains in place. In addition to the 3D printed components, I only use standard mechanical parts. The pressure sensor can be used to monitor the water pressure in the pressure line.⁣

🇩🇪 Nun habe ich es auch endlich geschafft den ganzen Bildern ein bisschen mehr Beschreibung zu geben. Werde die Tage noch mehr dazu posten. Hier erstmal eine Nahansicht des Speerventils. Hier verwende ich den gleichen DC Motor mit Schneckengetriebe wie ich ihn auch beim Pitchaktor von #WinDIY_2 nutze. Dank der Selbstsperrung bleibt eine einmal eingestellte Ventilstellung also stehen. Neben den 3D gedruckten Komponenten verwende ich nur mechanische Standardteile. Mit dem Drucksensor kann der Wasserdruck in der Druckleitung überwacht werden.⁣

🇬🇧 Typical kill two birds with one stone situation: I stumbled across these PCBs while looking for a suitable backup battery for the #printon_turbine. These PCBs allow to build a modular battery based on 18650 LiPo cells. It's handy that I still have one or two 18650 batteries lying around. 🤓 The LiPo cells are simply inserted into the holders. Depending on the configuration, this results in a finished battery system. In my case, a 24V battery that is protected by the BMS integrated into the PCB. The battery is then charged via the charge controller of the #printon_turbine. At the same time, it can be used as an energy source for (for example) an inverter.⁣

🇩🇪 Typische Zwei-Fliegen-Mit-einer-Klappe-Situation: Auf der Suche nach einem passenden Puffer-Akku für die #printon_turbine bin ich über diese PCBs gestolpert. Damit lassen sich modulare Akkus basierend auf 18650 LiPo Zellen aufbauen. Praktisch, dass ich da noch ein oder zwei 18650 Akkus rumliegen habe. 🤓 Die LiPo Zellen werden einfach in die Halterungen eingelegt. Je nach Konfiguration ergibt sich dann ein Akku system. In meinem Fall rin 24V Akku der durch das ins PCB integrierte BMS abgesichert ist. Der Akku wird dann über den Ladecontroller der #printon_turbine geladen. Gleichzeitig kann er als Energiequelle für (zum Beispiel) einen Wechselrichter genutzt werden. ⁣

🇬🇧 The past week was a lot to do. But I used the breaks to further develop the concept for the #printon_turbine (Yes! We found a name 😍).⁣
In order for the system to be portable, compact and also packaged directly, I designed it to fit in a 45L SAMLA box from @ikea . A lot of details have changed since the last post. The spear valve is ready. The water jet diamater can be adjusted via a small gear and a suitable motor. The pressure can be measured in the pressure line using a small 1/4" pressure sensor. The generator has been ordered (first I will rely on a purchased generator) and should look something like the picture. I have revised the buckets of the turbine wheel so that the load of the water jet should be better dissipated.I am very curious whether the buckets can withstand the water pressure.⁣
How do you like the concept so far? 🙂⁣

🇬🇧 One of my small permanent projects is a small, simple display for the most important data from my #SmartHome. For this I have adapted an already existing project for the #M5Paper. In addition to the weather data retrieved from #openweathermap, you can also display data from the SmartHome. These are retrieved as JSON from my SmartHome server and shown on the display. Thanks to the ePaper display, the ESP32 built into the M5Paper can remain in deep sleep most of the time. It only wakes up briefly to update the data and then switches back to deep sleep. This way the battery lasts a few weeks before it needs to be recharged. 🙂 I'm currently working on the software. If anyone knows how to get JSONs over HTTPS (self-signed certificate) using the Arduino ESP32 implementation, I'd appreciate any hints. 🙂 You can find the current status of the firmware in the Git repository of Nerdiy.de⁣

🇬🇧 This PCB was also included in the last package from @pcbway. 😍 It is test- and project PCB at the same time. I want to test the 2x2mm large SK6812 LEDs. These are very similar to the WS2812 LEDs. The practical difference, is that they have a much more relaxed "moisture sesitivity level". So they can be processed a little longer after opening the packaging. I've often had problems with the WS2812 LEDs about this. The PCB can then be used to build a 10x11 LED matrix. For example, you can use this PCB to set up a mini word clock. 🙂 In addition to the LEDs, I have integrated another new component. Let's see who finds it first. 🤓⁣

🇩🇪 In dem letzten Paket von @pcbway war auch noch dieses PCB enthalten. 😍 Es ist Test- und gleichzeitig Projekt-PCB. Testen will ich damit die 2x2mm großen SK6812 LEDs. Diese sind den WS2812 LEDs sehr ähnlich. Der praktische Unterschied ist aber, dass sie ein wesentlich entspannteres "Moisture sesitivity level" haben. So lassen sie sich also nach dem Öffnen der Verpackung etwas länger verarbeiten. Bei den WS2812 LEDs hatte ich schon öfters Probleme damit. Mit dem PCB lässt sich dann eine 10x11 LED Matrix aufbauen. So kann man dieses PCB zum Beispiel zum Aufbau einer Mini-Wordclock nutzen. 🙂 Neben den LEDs habe ich noch ein anderes Neues Bauteil eingeplant. Mal gucken wer es als erstes findet. 🤓⁣

🇬🇧 I finally got around to add the small ext

🇬🇧 I finally got around to add the small extension to the #pxlBlck plugin that was necessary to be able to use the #pxlBlck_digitClock with the #pxlDigit_PCB as well. The problem was that I had previously used a colon (as a separator) between the hour and minute digits. In the structure shown, however, I left this out. Due to the missing colon-segments in hardware but not in software this lead to shifted segments of the minute digits by two segments each. The minute number was not readable. Now I have implemented an option with which the display of the colon can be deactivated. You can see the result in the pictures. 🙂⁣

🇩🇪 Ich bin endlich dazu gekommen die kleine Erweiterung in das #pxlBlck plugin einzubauen, die nötig war um die #pxlBlck_digitClock auch mit dem #pxlDigit_PCB nutzen zu können. Das Problem war, dass ich bisher zwischen Stunden- und Minuten-Ziffer einen Doppelpunkt (als Trenner) eingeplant hatte. In dem gezeigten Aufbau habe ich diesen aber weggelassen. Dadurch wurden die Segmente der Minuten-Ziffern alle um zwei Segmente verschoben. Die Minutenzahl war so also nicht lesbar. Nun habe ich eine Option eingebaut mit der sich die Anzeige des Doppelpunkts deaktivieren lässt. Das Ergebnis seht Ihr auf den Bildern. 🙂⁣

🇬🇧 A few close-ups of the 16x16 LED matrix made of SK6805 LEDs. You can see the individual LED colors quite well. In addition to the three LEDs, a WS2811 IC is also installed in the 1.5x1.5mm big housing. Thanks to this the color and brightness of the LEDs can be set with just one GPIO.⁣

🇬🇧 After all the LED Matrix content, here's something about the current status of #WinDIY_2 : I created a first concept for accommodating the electronics. The circuit board should be installed again in the middle above the motor. Since the magnetic encoder ICs have become quite expensive (yes, I'm talking about you #chipshortage) I decided to implement the position feedback for the angle of attack of the blades using a potentiometer. For this, the 45° blade setting angle is translated to the 270° setting angle of the potentiometer by a support gear. So I can later use the entire measuring range of the potentiometer to measure the angle of attack of the blades. 🙂⁣

🇩🇪 So nach dem ganzen LED Matrix content hier nun mal wieder etwas zum aktuellen Stand von #WinDIY_2 : Ich habe eine erstes Konzept zur Unterbringung der Elektronik erstellt. Die Platine soll dazu wieder mittig oberhalb des Motors verbaut werden. Da die magnetischen encoder ICs ziemlich teuer geworden sind (ja ich rede über dich #Chipknappheit) habe ich mich dazu entschlossen die Positionsrückmeldung über den Anstellwinkel der Blätter mithilfe eines Potis zu realisieren. Dazu wird der 45° Stellwinkel durch ein Unterstzungsgetriebe auf die 270° Stellwinkel des Potis übersetzt. So kann ich später den ganzen Messbereich des Potis zur Messung des Anstellwinkels nutzen. 🙂⁣

I have experimented with different acrylic glasses as a cover glass. They are milled with my @cncfrog.eu milling machine so that they can be inserted in the 3D printed holder. 🇬🇧 Feels weird sitting safely at my own desk in the sunshine while (again) people just a few flight hours away lose their loved ones, homes and future. It shows once again which personal priorities, relatively speaking, lose all priority. At the same time I am frustrated and motivated at the same time.⁣
⁣
Because where backward views, egoism and hostility force their way into the lives of innocent people, it is becoming increasingly evident that reason is not left behind.⁣
⁣
I am particularly proud of young people. Because it is precisely this group that has the least, can lose the most and at the same time is more and more willing to sacrifice the most to fight injustice and stand up for others.⁣
We are the first generation that has come together through the internet, social media, messagers and co. since the beginning of our lives. We no longer only have friends in our village. The world is our village. We have fewer prejudices because we are open-minded, cosmopolitan, communicative and tolerant. Let's not stop with this. With every generation that grows up like this, there will be more people who don't want to go to war against their friends in another country.⁣

🇬🇧 It starts with the assembly of the smallest LED matrix I have built so far. 16x16=256 SK6805 LEDs on a 40x40mm and 0.8mm thick four-layer board. I placed the connections on the back in such a way that individual boards can also be put together to form a larger matrix. 🇩🇪 Los geht es mit dem Bestücken der kleinsten LED Matrix die ich bisher gebaut habe. 16x16=256 SK6805 LEDs auf einer 40x40mm und 0,8mm dicken vierlagigen Platine. Die Anschlüsse auf der Rückseite habe ich so platziert, dass sich einzelne Platinen auch zu einer größeren Matrix zusammensetzen lassen. So könnte man eine nur 80x80mm groẞe LED Matrix mit 32x32 also 1024 Pixeln aufbauen. Danke an @pcbway für den Support bei diesem Projekt. 🙂⁣

🇬🇧 A few days ago a package arrived from @pcbway with two new boards. I'm almost scared of the 16x16 LED matrix made of SK6805. 😂 The SK6805 LEDs have an edge length of 1.5mm and 265 of them have to be placed manually on the board. The four-layer circuit board is only 0.8mm thick. It is impressive what is possible at PCB manufacturing.⁣
The other board is a breakout board for the AS5048B magnetic rotary encoder. With this (and with a suitable magnet) a non-contact rotary encoder can be build. 🙂 Many thanks to @pcbway for supporting my projects! 🙂⁣

🇩🇪 Vor ein paar Tagen kam ein Paket von @pcbway mit zwei neuen Platinen. Vor allem vor der 16x16 LED Matrix aus SK6805 hab ich fast Angst. 😂 Die SK6805 LEDs haben eine Kantenlänge von 1,5mm und es müssen 265 davon manuell auf der Platine platziert werden. Die vier lagige Platine ist nur 0,8mm dick. Schon beeindruckend, was dahingehend mittlerweile möglich ist. ⁣
Die andere Platine ist ein Breakoutboard für den AS5048B magnetic rotary encoder. Damit (und mit einem passenden Magnet) lässt sich ein Berührungsloser Drehencoder aufbauen. 🙂 Vielen Dank an @pcbway für die Unterstützung bei meinen Projekten! 🙂⁣

🇬🇧 I recently posted a display that I want to use to build a digital picture frame. The display shown here I want to use to build a kind of status display for my SmartHome. In other words, a display on which you can see at a glance which windows are open or closed and whether the washing machine is ready or not. Of course, there was no suitable housing for the display, which is why I started designing a housing that also accommodates a RasperryPi Zero W2 in addition to the display. It's not perfect yet, but the first step has been taken. 🙂⁣

🇩🇪 Vor kurzem hatte ich schonmal ein anderes Display geposted, welches ich nutzen will um einen digitalen Bilderrahmen zu bauen. Das hier gezeigte Display will ich nutzen um eine Art Status Display für mein SmartHome zu bauen. Also ein Display auf dem man auf den ersten Blick sehen kann, welche Fenster offen oder geschlossen sind und ob die Waschmaschine schon fertig ist. Natürlich gab es zu dem Display kein passendes Gehäuse, weshalb ich angefangen habe ein Gehäuse zu designen in dem neben dem Display auch ein RasperryPi Zero W2 unterkommt. Noch ist es nicht perfekt, aber der erste Schritt ist gemacht. 🙂⁣

🇬🇧 Yesterday I assembled the remaining two gear boxes and motors into the hub of #WinDIY_2 . With these the angle of attack of the blades can be adjusted later on. So the #windturbine can be adjusted to different wind speeds and braked if necessary. I printed the worms of the worm gears with my SLA printer. The remaining parts were printed from PLA. I hope you can see on the CAD drawings where the part will be installed later. 🙂⁣

🇩🇪 Gestern habe ich die restlichen beiden Getriebe und Motoren in die Nabe von #WinDIY_2 montiert. Darüber soll später der Anstellwinkel der Flügel eingestellt werden. So kann die #windturbine verschiedenen Windgeschwindigkeiten angepasst und bei Bedarf gebremst abgebremst werden. Die Schnecken der Schneckengetriebe habe ich mit meinem SLA Drucker gedruckt. Die restlichen Teile wurden aus PLA gedruckt. Ich hoffe man erkennt auf den CAD Zeichnungen wo das Teil später verbaut wird. 🙂⁣

English: In the video you can see the installation of the #pxlBlck_10x11mini board in the corresponding housing. The lightgrid is made of black PLA so that the light from an LED does not shine through into the neighboring square (pixel). This grid simply clicks into the housing base. I used threaded inserts (from @ruthex.de) to attach the circuit board (from @pcbway). Both the circuit board and the cover are then screwed to the base with M2 Torx screws. The buttons on the circuit board can be operated from the outside. This way the matrix can also be controlled using the buttons. How do you like the structure? 🙂⁣

German: Im Video könnt Ihr den Einbau der #pxlBlck_10x11mini Platine in das dazugehörige Gehäuse sehen. Damit das Licht einer LED nicht in das benachbarte Viereck(Pixel) durchscheint besteht das Gitter aus lichtundurchlässigem schwarzen PLA. Dieses Gitter wird einfach in die Gehäusebasis eingeklickt. Zur Befestigung der Platine (von @pcbway) habe ich Gewindeeinsätze (von @ruthex.de) genutzt. Sowohl die Platine als auch der Deckel wird dann mit M2 Torx schrauben mit der Basis verschraubt.⁣
Die Taster auf der Platine sind von außen bedienbar. So kann die Matrix auch über die Tasten gesteuert werden. Wie findet Ihr den Aufbau? 🙂⁣

Another project that I have secretly completed in between is the #pxlDigit_24mini . For this I installed the PCB in a housing printed from aluminum by @pcbway . I use black semi-transparent acrylic glass as a diffuser. Towards the end of the video you can also see the scrolling text function. What do you think about it? 😎⁣

🇩🇪 Ein anderes Projekt, dass ich zwischendurch heimlich abgeschlossen habe ist das #pxlDigit_24mini . Dazu habe ich die Platine in ein von @pcbway aus Aluminum gedrucktes Gehäuse verbaut. Als Diffusor nutze ich schwarzes semitransparentes Acrylglas. Gegend Ende des Videos könnt Ihr auch die Lauftextfunktion sehen. 😎⁣

I have expanded the list of use cases for the 16x16 matrix a bit. By combining four 16x16 LED matrices, a 32x32 matrix can be built. It can then be used to play GIF files with a size of 32x32 pixels in great detail. You can find the code to play the GIFs in the Git Repository of Nerdiy.de 🙂

Ich hab die Liste der Usecases für die 16x16 Matrix noch etwas aufgebohrt. Durch die Kombination von vier 16x16 LED Matrizen lässt sich eine 32x32 große Matrix bauen. Darauf lassen sich dann schon recht detailliert 32x32 Pixel große GIF Dateien abspielen. Den Code zum abspielen der GIFs findet Ihr im Git Repository von Nerdiy.de 🙂

A first small test of an alternative design for the #WinDIY_2 hub . To save filament for this test I only printed the base for one axis. The assembly would be so much easier (less small parts) and I hope that the adjustment of the wing is even more accurate using this design. 🙂⁣

🇩🇪 Ein erster kleiner Test eines alternativen Entwurfs für die Nabe von #WinDIY_2. Um Filament für diesen Test zu sparen habe ich die Basis nur für eine Achse gedruckt. Der Aufbau wäre so erheblich einfacher (weniger kleine Teile) und ich hoffe, dass die Einstellung des Flügels noch genauer möglich ist. 🙂⁣
