🇪🇺 Here comes a first insight into the (hopefully) final iteration for the #SolSpot housing. 😂I have been optimizing the case over the last few weeks and especially made sure that it is really waterproof. In order to connect the individual components together in a waterproof manner, I use a sealing ring printed from #TPU. This is inserted into the grooves provided and clamped between the components. The watertightness of the front panel was particularly important to me because the sensor electronics are located directly behind it. What do you think of the concept so far? 🙂Thanks to @ruthex.de for supporting this project. I use their thread inserts in almost all places where I have to screw 3D printed components and it works much better than with cut threads. 😎You can find more information and detailed instructions for my projects on NerDIY.de 🤓If you like what I'm doing follow me on @Nerdiy.de (Instagram) or @Nerdiy (YouTube).#Nerdiy.de #Nerdiy #Nerdy #NRDY #caddesign #science #solar #DIY #3dprinting #soldering #industrialdesign #doityourself #electronics #tech #technology #engineering #3dprinter #maker #arduino #esp8266 #esp #project #solderingiron #makerlife #CAD #esphome #electricalengineering #iot

The finished result now looks like this. I load the pictures that I want to display via an SMB share to the memory card of the Raspberry Pi. If an image does not fit completely into the frame, it is pushed across the display like the Kenburns effect. The images are changed every two minutes. In addition, the date and location of the photo are displayed after each image change (based on the GPS coordinates) is displayed. 🙂 Thanks to @dfrobot_official for supporting me with this project. 😍You can find more information and detailed instructions for my projects on NerDIY.de 🤓If you like what I'm doing follow me on @Nerdiy.de (Instagram) or @Nerdiy (YouTube).🇩🇪 Recently I showed how to build a very multifunctional digital picture frame using the 7" touch panel from @dfrobot_official , a RaspberryPi and a 3D printed frame. (Ad/Display)🇬🇧 In this photo you can see a thermal image of the #SolSpot board. A major disadvantage of manually soldering the TSL2591 is that the correct orientation can only be seen from the position of the diode array on the front (a square shape). Unfortunately, the logic unit right next to it is also square. Long story short: I initially soldered all four TSL2591s in exactly the wrong way. So unsolder everything again with hot air and orient it correctly. I then monitored the cooling process of the circuit board with the Infiray P2Pro thermal imaging camera. A simple way to avoid burned fingers in the future. 😂You can find more information and detailed instructions for my projects on NerDIY.de 🤓If you like what I'm doing follow me on @Nerdiy.de (Instagram) or @Nerdiy (YouTube).🇩🇪 In this photo you can see a thermal image of the SolSpot circuit board. (ad/display)🇬🇧 Many have already guessed it: I'm building a SolarTracker that I've dubbed "SolSpot". For this I designed the circuit board shown, which contains the well-known layout of four light sensors. For the light sensors I use a #TSL2591. These are read out via the I2C bus. Unfortunately, these do not have an adjustable I2C address. That's why I read the individual sensors via a TCA9548 I2C multiplexer. With this IC, an I2C bus can be multiplexed to eight different buses. In order to determine the further orientation of the sensor (and thus the direction of the sun), an ADXL345 acceleration sensor and a compass are also installed. Do you know the rest of the components? 😊 Thanks to @pcbway for supporting this project. You can find more information and detailed instructions for my projects on NerDIY.de 🤓If you like what I'm doing follow me on @Nerdiy.de (Instagram) or @Nerdiy (YouTube).🇩🇪 Many have already guessed it: I'm building a solar tracker that I've now christened "SolSpot". (Ad/Display)🇬🇧 So far I have monitored the commissioning of a newly built board with a "UNI-T UTi120MS" thermal imaging camera. This has some disadvantages that I have only noticed since I started using the new "Infiray P2Pro" thermal imaging camera. What bothered me about the old camera was the unreliable app. It often crashes and you often have to plug and unplug the camera several times before it is recognized properly. Furthermore, it is not possible to film or photograph close-up objects (e.g. PCBs or electronic components). The camera just can't focus correctly at such close ranges. With the Infiray P2Pro, this problem is solved via a macro attachment, which is simply magnetically fixed on the camera. Last but not least, the Infiray P2Pro is also a bit smaller. Not a must have but definitely nice. 😊 You can find the link to it in my Amazon store. Currently I'm still waiting for suitable jumper cables to be able to build the whole thing on a breadboard. 🇬🇧 In the meantime I have also solved one of the more blatant first world luxury problems in the new apartment. So far, "Staubi" (the hardest-working vacuum cleaner robot I know) has never fit under the living room couch. The feet were just too small so "Staubi" (you can roughly translate the name to "Dusty") always got stuck in front of the couch. To fix the problem, I decided to rebuild the couch feet and increase the couch ground clearance from 60mm to 120mm. The vacuum cleaner robot itself is actually only about 110mm high, but it still has some headroom. 🤓 For the feet I cut 60x40mm oak strips and glued them together with PU glue. The resulting 120x40mm oak strips were then mitred, glued together again and finally I rounded off the angled edge with a 5mm router. Then I only had to drill 24 20mm holes about 80mm deep into the feet (which took a really long time). Ultimately, you don't see the (quality) difference to the original feet. But I also have to admit that "I'll quickly build new higher feet for the couch" took a little longer than I initially thought. 😬😂You can find more information and detailed instructions for my projects on NerDIY.de 🤓If you like what I'm doing follow me on @Nerdiy.de (Instagram) or @Nerdiy (YouTube).#Nerdiy.de #Nerdiy #Nerdy #NRDY #caddesign #science #firstworldproblems #DIY #3dprinting #soldering #industrialdesign #doityourself #electronics #tech #technology #engineering #3dprinter #maker #arduino #esp8266 #esp #project #solderingiron #makerlife #CAD #ikea #electricalengineering #iot #roborock #vacuum

(Ad/Anzeige)🇬🇧 In the comments on the reel yesterday, someone asked me if I wasn't worried that the housing would melt or warp due to the high temperatures of the built-in Raspberry Pi A. To avoid this, I have planned relatively large ventilation openings in the back. Warm air can be drawn off easily through the upper ones. Cold air is drawn in from below and thus cools the electronics inside. 🤓 You can see that this works quite well on the thermal image that I took with my new thermal imaging camera from @infiray_technology. To create a "worst case scenario" I started "stress-ng" on the RaspberryPi and used all four CPU cores to 100%. After about an hour I took the pictures shown. You can see that no part of the case gets hotter than 40°C despite full load. 🙂You can find more information and detailed instructions for my projects on NerDIY.de 🤓If you like what I'm doing follow me on @Nerdiy.de (Instagram) or @Nerdiy (YouTube). #Nerdiy.de #Nerdiy #Nerdy #NRDY #caddesign #science #physic #DIY #3dprinting #soldering #industrialdesign #doityourself #electronics #tech #technology #engineering #3dprinter #maker #arduino #esp8266 #esp #project #solderingiron #makerlife #CAD #thermal #electricalengineering #iot #thermalcamera #design @infiray_sonny

🇬🇧 In the last few days I've been working a bit on the cladding of my rain barrel. I wanted to cover the bare barrel with wooden slats. Of course I also found a reason to use my 3D printer here. 😬 So that the slats can be placed neatly around the diameter of the barrel, I printed small eyelets, which were screwed onto the slats. With these I then threaded the slats on a 5mm thick rubber band and "knotted" them around the barrel. (Advertisement/Ad)🇬🇧 @dfrobot_official sent me an Unihiker. A RaspberryPi alternative with all sorts of additional hardware and a fairly beginner-friendly programming interface. Unlike the RaspberryPi, the Unihiker already has a microphone, three-axis gyroscope/acceleration sensor, buzzer, light sensor and a 2.8" touch display built in. There are also three buttons and various JST sockets for the interfaces. Lots of potential for the next project that needs a little more power than that of an ESP. 😍You can find more information and detailed instructions for my projects on NerDIY.de 🤓If you like what I'm doing follow me on @Nerdiy.de (Instagram) or @Nerdiy (YouTube).🇩🇪 @dfrobot_official sent me a Unihiker. (Ad/Anzeige) 🇬🇧 I know I've already shown you the finished case for the #pxlDigit_24mini. Nevertheless, I wanted to give you a little insight into the details. Thanks to the multicolor print, the housing consists of only two parts. The front panel includes the housing frame, the light grid and the 0.4mm thick diffuser on the front. The finished circuit board is inserted into the front panel. Then the rear panel can be inserted and fixed with a screw. The rear panel is pushed under a tab on one side and screwed to the housing on the other side with an M2x6 screw. This means that only one screw is required to attach the circuit board and the rear panel. So that the back doesn't look so boring, I integrated the triangle design from the front. The USB-C port built into the circuit board is directly accessible through an opening. The clock can then be supplied with energy and also programmed/configured via this. Many thanks to @pcbway for your support at the board development. 😍You can find more information and detailed instructions for my projects on NerDIY.de 🤓If you like what I'm doing follow me on @Nerdiy.de (Instagram) or @Nerdiy (YouTube).#Nerdiy.de #Nerdiy #Nerdy #NRDY #caddesign #science #lamp #DIY #3dprinting #soldering #industrialdesign #doityourself #electronics #tech #technology #engineering #3dprinter #maker #arduino #esp8266 #esp #project #solderingiron #makerlife #CAD #display #electricalengineering #iot #retro #design

(Advertisement/Ad)🇬🇧 Over the past weeks I've also (re)created the case for the #pxlBlck_multiPCB from scratch. The housing, the light grid and the diffuser are printed in one pass thanks to multicolor printing. I created two different designs for this. On one, you can see the black light grid on the front. With the other, it only shimmers slightly through the continuously printed diffuser. Which version do you like better? 🙂 I am also working on integrating the built-in I2S DAC and the built-in I2S microphone using #ESPHome and the new #VoiceAssistant feature of #HomeAssistant in such a way that the pxlBlck can be used as a VoiceAssistant client. I'm curious if and how this works. Here in update about the latest iteration for the #pxlDigit housing. In the first version, the PCB had to be glued to the housing after it was inserted. Not really sexy. Especially if you want to take the PCB out again. That's why I adjusted the dimensions so that the PCB can be clicked into the housing. It then holds without screws and glue. I also created a 3D printed housing for the #bedSens PCB. The circuit board can be easily inserted into it and is then clamped in the housing by closing it with the 3D printed cover. The connections for the force sensors and the #WS2812 LED RGB strip are then accessible from the outside. In addition, a recess for the (optionally mounted #BME280) is also integrated. This way the sensor is in the air and the measured values are falsified as little as possible by the housing. My vacuum cleaner robot is currently sleeping under the cloakroom bench. So it is directly visible and always has free travel as soon as it is needed. But since he has already done so much diligent work, it is time to build him his own garage. As a first step, I designed a hinge which will later hold the garage door. The door opens in the same way as you know it from kitchen cabinets. Many of you had already recognized it correctly: The indicated side project is a rotational platform which I want to use for the presentation in the future. The electronics are completely made up of different modules. A PWM module is used to set the speed of the rotation. The direction of rotation is reversed using a twin switch. The 6V for the geared motor are generated from a BuckBoost converter from a 18650 LiPo cell. The whole thing can then be charged via USB-C. Apart from the 3D printed parts, only a few ball bearings and screws are otherwise required 🙂 You can find more information and detailed instructions for my projects on NerDIY.de 🤓 Link: https://nerdiy.de/links/If you like what I'm doing follow me on @Nerdiy.de (Instagram) or @Nerdiy (YouTube).🇩🇪 Many of you had already recognized it correctly: The indicated sideproject is a turntable which I want to use for presentation in the future. After the Staircase usermod from #WLED didn't work as it should have for my purpose, I combined what was necessary with my curiosity and finally worked my way into #Esphome. You can see the result in the video. The 192 LEDs long WS2815 LED strip is virtually divided into 12 segments (= steps). After touching one of the two touch sensors at the upper or lower end of the railing, the light is started with an animation and switched off again automatically after 15 seconds. Here comes (finally) the solution to my little slider riddle. Often there is almost always a USB port within reach for charging the many devices you have in your household. But I often had the problem that a suitable cable was missing. That's why I developed this winding mechanism, which you can easily mount (for example) under a tabletop. The USB-C cable can then be easily pulled out when needed. When you no longer need it, it is neatly wound up again in the winding mechanism 🙂 You can find more information and detailed instructions for my projects on NerDIY.de 🤓If you like what I'm doing follow me on @Nerdiy.de (Instagram) or @Nerdiy (YouTube). Here comes also (finally) the solution of my little slider puzzle.
