HowTo: Register Pushbullet API key

Pushbullet is a free and easy way to receive push notifications from your smartphone or computer. So that you can access Pushbullet's functions via other devices such as an Arduino, RasberryPi or NodeRed, Pushbullet provides an API code. How you request this is described in the following article.

Create a Pushbullet account

If you don't have a Pushbullet account yet, you need to https://www.pushbullet.com/ create an account. In this case, “creating” just means that you have to log in with a Google or Facebook account. It doesn’t matter which account type you choose.

To log in you have to choose between logging in with your Google or Facebook login data.

Request Pushbullet API code

After you have logged in, the API code is just a few clicks away.

To do this, click on “Settings” at the bottom left…
…and then click “Create Access Token”.
And then a code consisting of letters, numbers and characters appears in the black framed area. This is your API code.

You can now copy this code and paste it into your NodeRed configuration or your Arduino code.

Have fun with the project

I hope everything worked as described for you. If not or you have questions or suggestions please let me know in the comments. I will then add this to the article if necessary.
Ideas for new projects are always welcome. 🙂

PS Many of these projects - especially the hardware projects - cost a lot of time and money. Of course I do this because I enjoy it, but if you think it's cool that I share the information with you, I would be happy about a small donation to the coffee fund. 🙂
